West Lake was notified for an aircraft down by Airport Chief 820. Chief 820 received notification from the Airport Tower that a small two seater aircraft experienced engine failure and was not able to make the runway.
Chief 480 responded upon dispatch along with Engine 482. Chief 480 requested an MPS ambulance to be dispatched as well.
Engine 483, Truck 487 and Ladder 489 responded as well. Chief 480 arrived on location at the former Millcreek Golf Course and reported a plane down in the driving range. The pilot successfully landed the aircraft upright and no injuries occurred. Engine 482 remained on scene.
After the plane was removed from the golf course, the following units escorted the aircraft back to the airport via Eddie’s Towing and shut down West 12th Street from Peninsula Drive to Marshall Drive: Engine 482, Engine 483, Truck 487, Chief 480, Chief 490, Chief Inspector 920, Inspector 922, Erie Airport Police, Eddie’s Towing.
