West Lake was dispatched to the 1300 block of Peninsula Drive this morning around 4am for a reported structure fire. Engine 482 and Ladder 489 responded and Erie County advised the fire was possibly extinguished.
Engine 482 arrived on location to find moderate smoke conditions visible from the second floor of a three story apartment building. West Lake L-9 assumed command. Ladder 489 arrived on location and sent their crew to meet Engine 482’s crew on the second floor. Command requested Erie County to fill the balance of the alarm, bringing West Ridge (Ladder) and Lake Shore (Engine).
Captain 492 reported a kitchen fire and that the fire was out but had heavy smoke conditions on the second floor. West Ridge Tower 479 crew sent a crew to the roof and to the third floor to check for extension. Crews overhauled the fire apartment and checked for extension, finding the fire was contained to the kitchen. Engine 502 staged.
Crews ventilated all the floors of the structure and the building was turned over to property management. Millcreek Paramedics were first on Scene and evacuated some residents, great job guys.
