Pedestrian Struck with Pin

 July 15, 2017

West Lake and MPS were dispatched to the West Pier Marina for a pedestrian struck. Chief 490, Truck 487 and Engine 483 responded upon dispatch. While responding, Erie County Dispatch advised that Presque Isle Park Rangers were on scene, reporting a patient pinned between two vehicles going into shock.

Engine 483 arrived on location along with Truck 487 and made patient contact. The patient was freed from the vehicle upon arrival. Chief 490 placed Stat Med Evac on Standby. Engine 483 requested the United States Coast Guard to respond to the scene for possible transport across Presque Isle Bay due to heavy traffic on the Park.

MPS decided to transport via ground to UPMC Hamot Shock Trauma Center. West Lake units secured the area while PISP Rangers conducted an investigation.

Engine 483, Firefighter Lechner had command.

Is your home or business properly marked so that first responders can immediately identify the address?

If not, it is a good idea to have numbers that are big enough for personnel to see from the road! The most common places for address markers are: garage, front door or mailboxes!

Don't let an unmarked residence or business stop help from reaching you quickly!
