Fire Police – If firefighting isn’t for you but you still want to volunteer and make a difference, the fire police division may be right for you! All training required for this position is paid for by the department, at no cost to you! As a fire police member, you will respond to incidents in your POV (personally owned vehicle) and assist firefighters at those incidents. You will be responsible for directing traffic, shutting down roadways, crowd control, etc. Fire Police members also participate in special details in conjunction with events within our district (Discover Presque Isle, 5k runs, poker runs, etc). A fire police officer will report directly to Fire Police Captain Kelso.
Requirements –
- Must successfully complete membership application process
- Live within West Lakes district or close proximity
- Obtain Basic Fire Police Certification within 6 months
- Obtain Emergency Medical Responder within 6-12 months
