A few big announcements from the 48 house (both are a few days late, sorry!).

First, congratulations to Chief Dominic Quadri and his wife Katie, on the birth of their second child, Ethan. Both mother and baby are happy and healthy!

Secondly, congratulations to former Chief Kirk McCaslin on securing the Republican Nominee for Millcreek Township Supervisor. Kirk led the department as Chief of Department for 14 years, and is a 30+ year veteran of the department. “Leadership Matters”.

A little kitten got stuck in a storm sewer at the corner of West 17th and Peninsula this evening. A passerby heard the meows and called it in. E483 and T487 responded with Chief 490 having command. Crews worked for a bit to get the grate off but once it came off FF Matt Albrewczynski went down into the sewer and worked for about an hour trying to coax the kitty out. Big thanks to the folks that drooped off some cat food. It ended up being the red laser dot from our thermal imaging camera that did the job. Matt grabbed the cat and turned it over to Chief Tavernese who instantly fell in love with it. Nice to hear some good news for a change! ... See MoreSee Less

Join us in welcoming our newest piece of apparatus, Rescue 485! R485 is a 2022 Fouts Four Quick Attack built on a Ford F550 Crew Cab 4X4 Chassis. 1500 GPM Hale Pump, 300 gallon water tank with a 15 gallon integrated foam system. R485 is equipped with a Hurst E-Combi rescue tool as well as a full compliment of firefighting tools.

The compact size of 485 will allow us to gain access to some areas of our district that are not very accessible to a full size engine, such as Waldameer and some of the homes located on the waterfront.

We purchased R845 with a grant obtained from the state with the help of Rep. Bizzarro.

Station 48 would like to thank Past Chief Dom Quadri and the committee that worked hard making sure the unit meets the current needs of the department.
